Ingredients  

  • ½ white onion diced
  • 1 l ground turkey
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 Thai bird chillies coarsely chopped
  • ½ cup cilantro coarsely chopped (stems and leaves)
  • 6 mint leaves chiffonade
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese or cheese of your choice
  • 4 burger buns

For the sauce

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup sriracha hot sauce
  • 1 lime zested and juiced

Fixings

  • ½ cup lettuce
  • ½ tomato sliced
  • 2 pickles sliced

Instructions

  • For the sauce, mix all ingredients together and set aside (this can be placed in the refrigerator).
  • Preheat your grill for direct cooking over medium heat (350-450°F). Scrape grill and brush with vegetable oil.
  • In a large bowl, combine all your ingredients and shape into 4 equal patties.
  • Grill Turkey Masala Burgers for 5-7 minutes per side, with the lid closed as much as possible. Add slices of cheese while the burger is still on the grill, during the last 2 minutes. Cook until the internal temperature of the burger reaches 165°F.
  • Toast the buns on the grill, then smear buns with spicy mayo.
  • Serve burgers with lettuce, tomato, and pickles on top.
