Turkey Lettuce Wraps

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 2 cloves garlic chopped
  • 1 onion chopped
  • ¼ cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger chopped
  • 1 tbsp sriracha hot sauce
  • 1 cup water chestnuts drained and diced
  • 2 stalks green onion chopped
  • 1 tsp salt or to taste
  • 1 tsp freshly cracked black pepper   or to taste
  • 1 head romaine lettuce
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds or to taste

Instructions
 

  • Over medium-high heat, heat the oil in a pan. Cook the turkey until nicely browned, about 5 minutes. Remove any excess fat as necessary.
  • Add the garlic, onion, Hoisin sauce, soy sauce, vinegar, ginger and Sriracha. Cook the mixture until the onions become translucent, about 3 minutes.
  • Stir in the water chestnuts and green onions and cook until tender. Season to taste.
  • To serve, spoon the turkey mixture into the centre of a lettuce leaf and roll it into a wrap.
