Combine seasonings in a small bowl. Dry turkey with paper towels, and rub the inside with 2-3 tsp (10-15 mL) of the seasoning mix. Coat all surfaces of the turkey with oil, then rub the outside with the remainder of the seasoning mix.
Preheat the barbecue to medium. Shut off one burner. Place a dripping pan on the grill above the shut-off burger, and pour in the beer. Place a vertical poultry holder in the dripping pan, and carefully slide the turkey onto the holder.
Grill 2 to 3 hours or until cooking juices are clear and the internal temperature reaches 170F (77C) in the breast and 180F (82C) in the thigh.
Using oven mitts, remove the dripping pan from the barbecue without spilling the beer. Transfer the turkey to a serving dish and discard the beer. Let the turkey rest at least 20 minutes before carving.
Serve with jacket potatoes and tomatoes cooked on the grill.
